TYPES OF COVERAGE

Dwelling Coverage
This is the coverage that is available to repair or rebuild your home in the event of a covered loss.

Detached or Appurtenant Structure Coverage
This is coverage that repairs or rebuilds a structure that is not attached to your primary home. Fencing, swimming pools, gazebos, and detached garages are examples of what this coverage is for.

Contents or Personal Property Coverage
This is coverage for your personal possessions….anything you own that is not attached to your home. Common examples include furniture, clothing, tools, toys, and sporting equipment.

Additional Living Expenses
This coverage represents monies that are available to you to pay for your increased living expenses following a covered loss. Examples include the cost of renting or leasing another home, moving expenses, and renting furniture.

Personal Liability Coverage
This coverage is available to pay others for injuries or property damage when you are legally liable for those damages. Legal liability is usually based upon your negligence in causing injury or property damage. An example of a home liability claim would be your failure to properly restrain a dog that is known to be aggressive which resulted in an injury to another person.

Medical Payments Coverage This coverage is to pay medical bills to others who are visiting your home. This is a relatively small amount of coverage (usually $1,000. to $5,000.) and it is paid without regard to legal liability.

Miscellaneous Endorsements There are many coverages that can be added to your home insurance policy. Some examples include increased coverage for business property, increased jewelry coverage, sewer back-up coverage, and increased coverage for theft of guns.
